What an amazing experience! After this trip, S. and I both consider Croatia to be the most beautiful place we have ever sailed in. Alba and her crew were excellent; friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. Captain Mirko set up a fantastic itinerary for us, and it seemed like every place we went to was more spectacular than the last. He was ably helped by the delightful Kiko, who was charming and always ready to lend a hand when needed. I don't think I ever saw a frown on his face! Our hostess, Katarina, charmed us all with her infectious giggle! She was open and friendly, and extremely patient with one of our guests who insisted on a crash course in Croatian! She was very attentive, and I don't think I will ever be able to eat fruit unless it has been chilled first ever again! One night, when my son and daughter were supposed to just be staying on the boat, Katarina and Kiko asked if they could take them out for a pizza with them. My kids were over the moon! Samir, our chef, was an absolute genius in the kitchen. My husband, who is not much of a fish eater, wound up loving everything that Salim presented (even anchovies!). My son was thrilled with all the alternatives that Samir made for him too. My oldest daughter was pining so hard for his Istrian fish platter when she got home that she went shopping to try to recreate it as soon as she had dropped her suitcase! And then I should talk about his mushroom dishes. Suffice it to say that altars should be set up to worship these dishes. Amazing, amazing, amazing!

I guess you want to know a little about Alba. What a beauty! If they offer you a trip again, cancel anything you have planned and go! What a beautiful and comfortable boat! We had ten on board the first week and we never felt cramped. Everybody loved their cabins. There are two gorgeous master cabins that would be perfect if you have two families going. One is nicer than the other, but the other is really luxurious too so the other couple wouldn't feel bad at all. The other cabins are smaller, but still comfortable, and there is a twin bunk cabin off the main master cabin that would be perfect for younger kids. The boat has all the fun toys and the crew is very gracious about helping to set things up for you. When the boat was under way, you barely felt anything. So solid! My friend didn't even have to take her Dramamine, which is a first! Loads of places on the boat for sunbathing or for getting out of the sun while staying outside. This is the first sailing trip where I did not burn! On to Croatia itself. We loved it! Someone had described it to us as Italy before it got ruined, and they were spot on! Clear blue water, fabulous little swimming holes, and friendly people. We loved it! Don't expect to see many sandy beaches, and water shoes are a good idea to bring along, although they are for sale at all the little towns we visited if you forget. Being there as early as we were, we brought thin wetsuit to swim in. Did not need them. The water was, what I would call, refreshing, in that when you first dive in you feel cool, but then you don't want to get out because it's the perfect temperature. I hate cold water, but I could have stayed in all day! Captain Mirko took us to so many beautiful spots. A bay with a hike to a monastery hidden in the hills, a spot with an agriturismo restaurant where everything they served was grown or bred there. We would set off after breakfast, stop at a fabulous swimming place and then move on to wherever we were going to dock or anchor for the night. We saw so much! There is a fabulous Spanish fort that takes a bit of a climb from the town, but there is a bar inside where we stopped for a celebratory bottle of champagne!

I could go on and on, but I think I will stop because I have to sleep! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me.

Thank you so much for organizing such a wonderful trip!

    M.J.
